A Design for the Future

The extraordinary new UC Riverside School of Business building is breaking ground. The iconic structure of brick, glass, metal, and exposed concrete is designed with the essential physical and technological flexibility for inevitable growth. The accelerated use of technology, innovations in interdisciplinary collaboration, the expansion of local business partnerships, and the focus on increased global reach and connectivity demand a contemporary and forward-thinking facility. Our new home will fulfill our ambitious plans to build more connections and partnerships and is tailor-made for our UCR School of Business students, research faculty, and our local and global business partners.

The building's second floor will contain a technology room and the first floor will host a small shop for people to come in and buy things.

Collaborative Spaces for Forward-Thinkers

With the clear intention to encompass all the demands of our business school community well into this century, our new home will set the international standard for business school facilities—physically, technologically, and educationally. The new building will have 38,500 square feet of assignable space within 63,400 in total gross square feet. Its features include two 80-seat classrooms; a 350-seat auditorium; a computer lab; a studio to record podcasts, lectures, videos, and other media; study areas; a student lounge; 20 faculty offices; 59 administrative offices; a faculty and staff lounge; an executive meeting room, and group meeting rooms. The facility will include state-of-the-art technology for hybrid learning where lecturers can deliver multi-media lectures that can be recorded and streamed.

The new building will be located adjacent to Anderson Hall UC Riverside's "South Campus", overlooking Riverside (click to enlarge image).

The Ideal Location for our New Building

The School of Business building is planned for the “South Campus” of UCR, a designated space for professional development and community engagement. The new UCR School of Business complex will combine Anderson Hall with the new building, connecting tradition with innovation. The new building will be a catalyst for research, economic development and growth in the Inland Empire region. The building is set to be a LEED certified, state-of-the-art facility, designed to house the entire School of Business, including the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management, the Undergraduate Business Program and Centers of Excellence.

An Ambitious Journey

Serving our students and housing our faculty, staff, and administrators has long been a challenge for the UCR School of Business. Our home base, Anderson Hall, is a beautiful and historic 1917 Mission-style building, which was bult as the Citrus Experiment Station for state-funded agricultural research. While beloved by so many, the School of Business has outgrown Anderson Hall.

An ambitious years-long journey—planning, drawing, and fine-tuning—has now moved into the building phase with our groundbreaking ceremony on April 27, 2023. With final blueprints in hand, the new structure will sit across from Anderson Hall in what was formerly Parking Lot 8. This location creates a business school complex housing all of our programs, faculty, and classes.
